Ægir, A stout is a dark beer with lots of dark malts and a good portion of roasted barley malt which form the background of a Russian Imperial Stout. It is developed by the British breweries back in 1800 to gain a bigger market at the Russian court and the Tsar. Carefully selected dark malts together with a high fermentation temperature gives flavor and aroma of plum, raisins and chocolate with a perfect aftertaste of British hops. Fermented at a temperature that allows the yeast to form fruity esters which creates a smooth balance between the dark malts and hops. Should be enjoyed at 10-12°C, (50-54°F) in a Munkebo glass and enjoy how the dark malts and the high alcohol give an amazingly complex aroma.Ægir is sea jötnar and king of the sea. According to the old Danish legends he lives on the island of Læsø, along the sea goddess Ran.
